Hey all, quick word about the Marriott. If you want to book your room there, there are still plenty left. They have made it even easier as well. If you book online, use the group code "ndrndro" for your discount.

couple of updates

A couple of updates for y'all...

My Uncle Bub was released from the hospital and all his tests were good. Thanks for your prayers! He is still concerned about some health issues and also his job, so continue to lift him and his family up in prayer if you can.

Ryan updated the photos part of our website. You can see our pictures through the years together, engagement photos from Disney, and engagement photos by Lauren Wright.

my first shower

One of the most exciting recent events was my first bridal shower. It was thrown by Joyce Reimer, the wife of our officant, Dr. Jon Reimer. I've known her a very long time, feels like my whole life :)

Aunt Joyce knows how to entertain! She had an amazing array of food, soooo delicious!

I was so glad to see so many familiar faces from my hometown church, many of whom I also feel like I've known forever :)

We started out eating and then Aunt Joyce led us all in a devotion. First, she reminded me of the story of Mary & Martha (luke 10:38-42) and how during this busy, crazy time, it's important to sit at Jesus feet and not get caught up with all the prepartions. After that, she shared some thoughts from a book called A Woman After God's Own Heart. The main thing I learned was a new appreciation for the word "sure." :) She gave me a copy of the book and I can't wait to start reading it. Any girls out there want to read it with me?

After Aunt Joyce shared, her 2 daughter-in-laws also shared their thoughts on the book & marriage, and some other ladies shared too. It was a really sweet time of fellowship and I certainly learned a lot!

Then was time to open presents! I wish had more & better quality pics but this is all that I got off my mom's camera.

It was such a fun time, definitely something I will remember forever. It was great to spend time with the ladies from my church, Ryan's mom, and some of my mom's coworkers. I'm so thankful for all of the wonderful women in my life :) And I was blessed with lots of new kitchen & bathroom stuff that I can't wait to share with Ryan! Thanks to everyone who could make it!

website updated & prayer request

So, a lot of exciting wedding events went down last weekend in Augusta. I will try my very best to have a post uploaded about that in the next day or so :) (the problem is that I have 2 laptops and I get caught in a lot of back & forth between the two). To tide you over til then though, our wedding website has been updated, specifically the wedding party page. If you visited when our site first went live, you may have noticed that only my wedding party had pictures. Apparently boys don't keep track of pictures as well as girls do, so it took Ryan a while to get me pics of his wedding party, hehe ;) But they are all there now, with the exception of Matt Ward, Jaden West and our flowergirls, Emily & Catherine.

In other news, I have a prayer request. My Uncle Bub is in the hospital tonight. He couldn't breathe and has been concerned about a lump in his chest. So, he'll be there overnight and getting a CAT scan as well...just pray that everything will be alright! This has been a very trying year for both our families, it seems amazing if we make it to the altar at all. Who knew we would have to take the "survivor" theme so seriously. But, we are going to survive this, and we'll continue to trust God every step of the way. He's not going to let us down!

weekend recap

Did I "survive" my first dress fitting? Well yes I did :) Thankfully, it still fits. The biggest alteration will be shortening the dress, since it is about 2 feet too long on me. It was really fun, and I wish I could show you pictures, but then that would just ruin everything now wouldn't it? My mom, sister, and my mom's friend Phyllis came with me. I love Phyllis because she knows how to sew, and we tried to figure out how they made the veil I really want. It's almost $300!! But I haven't been able to find a veil like it anywhere else. I'll keep looking though.

Here's a picture I can show you though...Holly in her Maid of Honor dress! I don't think it's bad luck to share these. She is getting a different dress from the bridesmaids, because she's that special :) It's wrinkled from shipping, but you get the idea. I just love the back!

On an earlier trip, she modeled the bridesmaids' dresses. I love these so much, especially the cap sleeves!

After the dress fitting, I went home and found that a wedding present had been shipped to the house. I honestly hadn't been expecting anything, and was quite curious as to what it could be & who it was from. Well, surprise of surprises, it was from one of the voiceover talents I work with occasionally out in LA. I have never actually "met" him - we only talk over the phone when we have promos to record. But he totally surprised me and sent a wedding gift - 8 placemats and 8 napkins from Macy's. He totally made my day!

Also after the dress fitting, Holly & I spent many hours addressing invitations. My dad did his calligraphy on all the inner envelopes, but he ended up not being able to address all the outer envelopes. So, he gave Holly & I a little crash course on calligraphy and we tried our hardest to address the envelopes as beautifully as he would have. I forgot to take pictures of Dad's calligraphy, but here are some older photos from a weekend where we assembled everything. The invitations were kind of a pain to put together, but Holly was a pro and caught on quickly!

I got back to Atlanta on Sunday and did a little shopping. I found some great summer dresses at Old Navy! I think the yellow one will be good for the shower this weekend, and the pink one for my Atlanta shower & bachelorette in early August. The pink one is my favorite shade of pink, one of our wedding colors :)

I also stopped by Nine West, my favorite shoe store, and got these for the wedding day. I'm a flip flop kind of girl and can't imagine wearing anything else on my wedding day, hehe. Plus, they were on sale! Can't beat that.

Tux's ordered!

Well everyone, you'll know this even before my groomsmen do. I'll be sending them an email shortly, of course, but I wanted to break the news here.

I went to Men's Warehouse for the tuxes, and got it perfect the first time, keeping the color of the Bridesmaid's dresses in mind. I decided on going with a classic black 2 button notch lapel tux, with a vest in the shade of green. It should be a good look to complement the beautiful ladies. Not to mention 100% wool tuxes are excellent for late August temperatures in Georgia. Haha.

On a separate note, the honeymoon should be mostly set and ready mid-next week. Very exciting.

Thanks for reading!

hotel block: marriott suites

We set aside 2 hotel blocks for the wedding (see our site for more info). We went by the Marriott a couple weeks ago to look around. I've gone to the Marriott for various things over the years, but I've never actually stayed there. The rooms look really nice, and we got a pretty good rate. This hotel is a lot closer to the church and reception site, so if you want convenience, this is your best bet. But it's a trade-off since it's one of the more pricey hotels in Augusta.

Right on the Riverwalk with some pretty views

The complex is verrry large, don't get lost!

Pool party anyone??

July is here!

Yeah, so we haven't been the greatest about keeping this up to date. Sorry!

But, it is now July, which means we have less than 2 months to go til the BIG DAY! Ahhh we can't wait! I'm not sure about Ryan, but I have some exciting events coming up this month. My first dress fitting is this Friday, 7/10! I hope I can make it to Augusta in time. My company has an awesome thing called "summer Fridays" which means we can leave at 3pm if our work is tied up enough. So, hopefully, I'll be able to leave at 3 and make it just in time for my 5:30 appt. It's a little inconvenient because the seamstress only works Thur & Fri, and being in Atlanta certainly makes the alterations process harder. But, I'm really excited about putting my dress on again, and seeing what the seamstress has in mind for my dress.

Another exciting event coming up is my first bridal shower on 7/18. One of our dear family friends and the wife of our officiant, Joyce Reimer (or as I like to call her, Aunt Joyce), is hosting a brunch at her house. It will mostly be the women from my hometown church (where I've attended since I was 10 yrs old), but Aunt Joyce said all ladies are welcome to attend :) If you want more details, let me know!

After the shower, I'm going to Halo Salon for my hair & make-up consultation. We are renting out the upstairs area for the bridesmaids luncheon and having all the girls in my wedding party hair done, plus my hair & make-up. That will be a fun time :) I have some ideas for my hair, but I'm still not sure exactly what I want. Any suggestions?
